Meet Thom W. Miller
Author of Between Two Breaths, shares a gripping story of survival, faith, and family on the Kings River.

Without a doubt, Thom Miller has led an exciting life. He has accomplished many things throughout his nearly seven decades, both in his business endeavors and in his personal pursuits. Those who know him do not expect that to change.
Growing up in the rural agrarian town of Exeter, California, Thom was the oldest of ten children. Acquiescing to his mother's desire that he excel in English and math, Thom attended Bellarmine Prep High School in San Jose, a school with stringent standards. His four years of studying Latin haven't hindered his natural literary flair, as he asserts that Latin is the foundation of the English language.
Thom's father was the local optometrist, a career Thom had considered following. But after earning an AA with a focus on pre-med, he decided it wasn't the best path for him. A year after graduation, he enlisted in the Army and went to Vietnam. He included several poignant and heartfelt stories about his time while proudly serving his country.
Returning to Exeter, Thom quickly found the love of his life, Kelly, and the two married. Fifty-five years later, they enjoy their seven children and twenty-one grandchildren. He feels that God has blessed him beyond measure.
Thom has been quite the entrepreneur, having started several businesses, including an insulation installation company, which employed many people. However, the medical uniform store in Fresno that he and Kelly ran for over thirty years gave him a sense of accomplishment. Interestingly, aside from a writing course he took, he says he learned a lot while writing material for his businesses and communicating with his employees.
In Thom's new book, Between Two Breaths, Thom shares how God has often stepped into his life, sometimes in dramatic fashion. But the last time God intervened was most life-changing, hence the book. “I didn't plan to write a memoir,” Thom says. “I'm a private person. But this story isn't just mine—it's about something bigger.”
Retired now, Thom and Kelly are happily living their golden years in Fresno, California, in their beautiful home on a cliff overlooking a scenic river. He finds it a great spot to write.
